A British pen pal of mine is heavily into cryptography (and even studied it in uni). There was a big event at Bletchley Park, the place where the German Enigma machine’s code was broken during WWII. There’s a museum there now, and a couple of weeks ago they had a big event in conjunction with a Polish cryptography institute. There was a presentation my friend says was fascinating, and I’m so jealous she got to go. (I’m not able to do that level of math, but I’ve read a good bit of layperson stuff on the subject, especially about the history of it.) I asked her to send me a postcard. She sent me two, plus a beautiful little journal that I will never write in because it’s too cool for me.

I need to go more interesting places, myself…
